A little clarification

I don't think the message that I wanted to send came across in my last post.

For the record:

I love hurdles. Bring 'em on. Just be creative about where you put them. One set in the middle of a 300 meter grass straightaway does very little to change the face of the race. But the set at Sucker Brook was well placed in my opinion. They hurt pretty good coming off that little rise.

I love getting on and off my bike. I have worked hard over the years to become somewhat decent at it.

Stairs would be cool. I envy the guys in Portland who have that one course with a couple of sets of stairs.

Bring on the sand. A 300 meter beach section would be sick.

I really like hard courses. The point I was trying to make is I think who shows up on race day is more important to cross racing than the course that is put together by the organizers. I would prefer tough competition over a tough course anyday. And having both would be the best case scenario.

high speed barriers are awesome...

they separates those who can and those who can't with rather dramatic results...

You should make a point to hit the southington course. Good long sand runs. And a ridable sand pit. AND a nice little hill that may or may not be ridable.

High speed barriers separate the true cross skillz mastahs from the dudes who can just ride fast.

but then
i like high speed dismount sections.

the faster the better ATMO

Absolutely disagree, high speed barriers are very difficult to go quickly through. I end up working really hard to stay with smoother riders on fast barriers -- it doesn't change the face of the race any more than any other 20-yard stretch, sure, but that argument could be used for just removing the course entirely.

that's ok zank, i'll counterattack in the beer tent

1k beaches huh?

1k beaches AND an average speed over 25 mph or was it 22...

whatever - that's fast...

Beer Tent? Ya think Lance Armstrong - i mean Zank - will be distracted by beer? Just as long as the tent isn't sponsored by New Belgium Brewery.

I like the barriers at Steadman's last year. Those were pretty damn fast in approach. even with my crap style last year i was making huge gains at that point...

Well all yall looking to race on Saturday will get your wish of mud and rain it looks like.

Casters/NBX.. you'll get your beach runs in. And I'll be loving it.

Best.
Course.
Ever.

They should connect the two beach sections at Casters. That would be sick. And I agree with you, CTodd. That just may be my favorite course ever.

CTurd and i were looking at the google map of the course there at Goddard park...

How awesome to connect the two would that be...

i'm all for it...

that said, it was THE most painful part of racing for me that weekend, that beach run killed me...

it also sent Meg off in a meat wagon...
